Vancouver well connected to Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame
The Vancouver connection to the Canadian Hall of Fame is extremely strong. Inductees connected to the Vancouver Mounties are Claude Raymond, Ron Piche, Pat Gillack, Pete Ward, Ted Bowsfield, Doc Younker as well Larry Walker's father Larry senior was signed in 1956 by the Mounties and pitched in Yakima. Other Vancouver connection are Mr. Baseball Bob Brown who owned the capilanos ans was instrumental in the building of Capilano/Nat Bailey Stadium. National Baseball Institute head coach John Haar, player John Ducey. John McHale was President of the Vancouver Canadians for awhile. Dave McKay grew up in the shadows of Cap Stadium, Jack Kent Cooke tried to bring Major League baseball to Vancouver, Calvin Griffith owned the Twins who were the parent club of the 1962 Mounties and last but not least the Vancouver Ashi team.
