Capilano Stadium

Capilano Stadium was built in 1951 for the Vancouver Capilanos of the Western International League (WIL). The League folded at the end of 1954. The Stadium was next used in 1956 by the Vancouver Mounties of the Pacific Coast League. The Oakland Oaks franchise moved to Vancouver. The Mounties were in existence until 1962 when the franchise moved to Dallas/Forth Worth for two years.

The franchise moved back to Vancouver as the Mounties in 1965-69. The franchise then moved to Salt Lake City. There was no professional baseball in Capilano Stadium except for three games played by the New Westminster Frasers in 1974. 1973 saw Senior Amateur Baseball save the Stadium by working hard to refurbish the field and the concourse.

The Pacific Coast League returned to Vancouver in 1978, this time in the form of the Vancouver Canadians, who renamed the Stadium for Nat Bailey - the former President of The Vancouver Mounties. The Triple A Canadians remained until the end of the 1999 season when the franchise moved to Sacramento.

Since 2000 the single A Vancouver Canadians have called Nat Bailey Stadium home. The Canadians came into existence with the Medford Timberjacks relocating to Vancouver.
